Asia Outdoor 2016: Record exhibitor numbers, new villages, conferences and talks
The 11th Asia Outdoor Trade Show will take place in Nanjing, China from Thursday, June 30 to Sunday, July 3. The 2016 edition of the leading Chinese outdoor trade fair sees a record number of 650 exhibitors and will cover about 48 000 square meters of space in the Nanjing fairground. “We are very pleased with the number of brands exhibiting at the 11th Asia Outdoor”, explains Stefan Reisinger, Head of OutDoor and Eurobike, “this underscores the Chinese outdoor market recovering and gaining confidence for the future.”
Over the last ten years, Asia Outdoor has developed into the most influential outdoor trade fair in China. Today, it is more than a four day trade show. It has developed also into a year-round online community platform for key market players representing the entire industry chain from production to retail.
“The annual trade show is a good opportunity for brands and trade visitors to exchange information, do business, and discover future trends. Besides the brand and product display, Asia Outdoor also features platforms for discussion and workshops as part of the supporting program. We are expecting a high-quality and interesting Asia Outdoor this year,” says Richard Li, project director of Asia Outdoor. The exhibition areas represent the whole range from apparel, footwear, backpacks to fabrics, tents and sleeping bags. Activities from hiking to camping, from mountaineering to running, from rock climbing to water sports, and even from cycling to camping with RVs will be covered.
Asia Outdoor Industry Award for excellent products
To encourage and honor the development of outstanding products and designs, the Asia Outdoor Industry Award in the categories Gold, Silver, Eco, Women Product, Running Product, and Material Innovation will put the spotlight on highly innovative products. Product categories include mountaineering, apparel, shoes, camping, accessories, backpacks, running products and materials. The Asia Outdoor Industry Award Ceremony will take place at 2.45 p.m. on June 30. The awarded products will be on display in Hall 5 during the four-day exhibition.
Conferences and talks on industry trends
The 2nd COA Outdoor China Summit, will take place on June 29, one day prior to Asia Outdoor. Organized in cooperation with the China Outdoor Association, the conference will cover top relevant topics regarding the Chinese outdoor industry, such as brands expanding their influence through events, cooperations between the outdoor industry and the tourism industry as well as the further development of the industry. Other forums and conferences at Asia Outdoor will focus on the Chinese running industry, water sports, the camping industry, and outdoor clubs.
Developing the industry together
Asia Outdoor will again support business matchmaking for the industry and extent the invitation of E-commerce businesses like Tmall, Suning, JD.com, and Amazon, shopping malls and supermarkets, online tourism platforms, camping equipment suppliers, etc. Outdoor brands, group purchasing, retailers, wholesalers, outdoor clubs and associations, and government representatives are welcome to participate in the forum.
Villages feature individual sports and sectors
Asides from presenting the newest products and offering business opportunities, Asia Outdoor also features several testing facilities for a wide range of products. The Running Village features more than 40 running brands, travel agents, event holders and media which exhibit the newest products next to running workshops and demonstrations. The Outdoor Club Village opens for the first time in 2016, combining the outdoor travelling sector, events and sports. Here, clubs, travel platforms and event organizers can meet and mingle. Another new feature at this year’s Asia Outdoor is the Self-Driving and RV village, which reflects a fast-growing sector of the outdoor industry and connects campsite operators, construction businesses and RV clubs. The Water Sports village, which has established itself as a testing hotspot for kayaks, diving products and other equipment is set as well as the Tent City, which continues to exhibit products like tents and camping equipment from mayor brands in a separate area.
Celebrating the spirit of outdoor sports
After the successful Asia Outdoor Dry Tooling Challenge 2015, the trade fair in Nanjing will showcase another suspenseful climbing competition in 2016, the KAILAS Cup COA Climbing Challenge. Asides from the actual contest, top athletes will demonstrate climbing safety and wilderness survival techniques. There are several themed after show parties and events every day for example the Asia Outdoor Running Party at Nanjing One Season Boot Camp, which will take place on June 30 and the traditional Crayfish Party which will happen on July 1. The fourth Night Running Race at Purple Mountain, hosted by Asia Outdoor and Sanfo and sponsored by Northland, will allow athletes to compete on a seven kilometer and a 21 kilometer course on July 2.
